Synopsis: Compassion-focused therapy(CFT) is an evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach that helps people alleviate shame and self-criticism. Developed by Paul Gilbert, CFT draws upon thousands of years of wisdom traditions that have used mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion as a tool to transform lives and facilitate behaviour change.This workshop will help participants gain a better understanding of the CFT model and provide strategies to confidently administer CFT interventions.

Objectives:

·         What is compassion - defining and clarifying the meaning of compassion and self-compassion

·         how did compassion come about as the core focus of psychotherapeutic work in theCBT world

·         Gilbert’s model of compassion: The psychology of engagement, The psychology of alleviation

·         CFT and evolutionary theory: basics

·         The three major emotion regulation systems (the three circle model)

·         Role play ofCFT techniques with participants
